Help Shape the Future of Women+ Health in the Maritimes

Women+ across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island experience a wide range of health concerns — but many of the most important questions about women+ health still haven’t been properly studied. Too often, research priorities are decided without enough input from the people most affected.

We want to change that.

This project, led by Dr. Justine Dol at IWK Health as the Dr. Margaret Oulton Accelerate Chair in Women+ Health Research, is inviting women+, caregivers, healthcare providers, researchers, policymakers, and community members to share what health questions matter most to them. Together, we will identify and prioritize the unanswered questions that should guide future women+ health research in the Maritime provinces.

When we say women+, we mean women and others who experience health issues traditionally associated with women’s health — including cisgender women, transgender individuals, non-binary, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people.

If you are 18 years or older, live in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, or Prince Edward Island, and care about women+ health — whether through personal experience, caregiving, clinical work, research, policy, or simply as a community member — we would love to hear from you.

Taking part involves completing a short online survey where you can share up to five women+ health questions you believe deserve more attention. Later, you may be invited to help rank a list of the most commonly submitted questions. Participation is completely voluntary, and you can skip any question or stop at any time.

There are minimal risks involved. Some questions may ask you to reflect on personal or healthcare experiences, which could feel uncomfortable. You are always free to skip questions. While there may not be a direct personal benefit, your voice will help ensure that future research, funding, and policy decisions better reflect the real needs of women+ in our region.

All responses are collected securely, and results will be shared only in summary form so that no individual can be identified.

If you believe women+ health research in the Maritimes should reflect the voices of the people who live and work here, we invite you to participate.
